Are you an experienced and ambitious Support Assistant who has a sound knowledge and understanding of issues affecting individuals relevant to the customer group?

Do you have the ability it takes to motivate, support, direct and collaborate with others?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Assistant to join our Hackney Floating Support Service on a Fixed Term Contract until March 2019 at 0.8 FTE(30 hours per week only).

In this role you will work as part of a team working with individuals and their families to maintain accommodation and avoid eviction and improve long-term positive outcomes, which is at the heart of our service.  The service aims to support independent living whilst promoting health, wellbeing and social inclusion which are fundamental aspects to improving the quality of life of our customers.

About the role

Reporting to an allocated Team Manager you will be responsible for managing between up to 16 customer case loads.

Key responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • An understanding of, and respect for, the issues affecting people with mental health needs and those relating to dual diagnosis (i.e. mental health and substance misuse.
  • The ability to undertake assessments and work with individual support plans in an environment that encourages service user consultation and involvement
  • The ability to engage with clients’ and promote their rights
  • A well-organised approach, team ethos and good communication skills
  • Basic office IT skills.
  • To work in a way that is imaginative and responsive to the needs of customers, facilitating effective customer participation, consultation and feedback.
  • Ensure that all required MPS databases are kept up to date and that appropriate files and records are kept up to date.

About You

  • We are looking for individuals who can evidence a proven track record demonstrating the ability to work independently using their own initiatives.
  • It is essential that you have experience of working within the housing sector and housing related support. 
  • You will be confident in providing remedies to eviction and welfare rights cases, as well as procedures to managing incidents and accidents as well as safeguarding (adults and children).
  • You will have sound knowledge of the housing sector and be up to date with current legislation and government frameworks.
  • Helping people is your passion and at the core of all you do, you understand the types of issues affecting vulnerable adults and young people who require housing related support.
  • You will be a role model and demonstrate our behaviours; collaboration, ambition, respect, excellence and engagement.
