We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Solicitor or Lawyer to join our Customer Operations team in Mile End. 

Working as part of our Legal team, you will report to the Head of Legal and be responsible for undertaking litigation on behalf of One Housing, as well as providing general legal advice in relation to property and tenancy matters.

The Role

  • To provide excellent customer focused legal service to all customers and clients.
  • To carry and manage own caseload of anti-social behaviour (ASB) and tenancy fraud related litigation matters. Undertake detailed preparation for court action, including court documentation, in accordance with the Civil Court Procedures, and to conduct Court hearings, including advocacy and conducting trials where appropriate to represent One Housing.
  • To provide general legal advice in relation to ASB, Tenancy Fraud, tenancy management and other legal matters relating to properties within One Housing’s portfolio as required.
  • To assist Litigation Solicitor with, and as required, undertake litigation on behalf of One Housing including but not limited to gas safety injunctions and possession hearings in relation to the One Housing’s property management portfolio.
  • To provide general assistance, cover and deputise for Litigation Solicitor as necessary.
  • To maintain an accurate record of income, savings and legal work in accordance with the recording requirements prescribed.
  • To meet all targets set and any relevant corporate objectives.
  • To provide excellent legal work that is tailored around the customer; that it is prompt, clear and reliable and demonstrates an understanding of the business context; that it is value for money, solutions focused and innovative.
  • To pro-actively build excellent relationships with residents, customers and any internal or external stakeholders to ensure an outstanding legal service is provided.
  • To be responsible for and supervise the quality and accuracy of the legal work of the paralegal(s) and/or administrative support staff working for the post holder

About You

You must be a qualified solicitor, a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and a holder of a current Legal Practising Certificate OR a CILEx qualified Chartered Legal Executive Lawyer who is able to undertake their own litigation work.

You will have minimum of 2 years PQE in anti-social behaviour and tenancy fraud and proven experience in advocacy and property related litigation.
