Central is working in partnership with One Housing Group to recruit night support assistants to cover nights shifts in our brand new service in Bedford. In this role, you will be supporting people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, alcohol and drug dependency, physical and learning disability, younger and elderly people, offenders and victims of domestic violence. The service also specialises in supporting those that are homeless and young parents.

The service is a brand new purpose built 24-hour homelessness and complex needs service due to open in March 2018, with Central working with One Housing Group to staff all waking night work, offering contracts to successful candidates.

You will be working on a rota basis, covering 2-4 nights per week across 7 days. Each shift will be 12 hours, starting at 8:30PM – 8:30AM. Each rota is created three months in advance, on an ongoing basis. The pay rate for this role is £8.21 per hour.

Support throughout the day will be provided by a team of support staff including support officers, specialist support offers, a Deputy Manager and a Team Manager.

Waking night staff will be responsible for providing a waking presence ensuring that residents are safe, secure and supported and available to residents at all times where needed and that scheduled tasks are completed to a high standard. You will also need to ensure the Project is secure by regular patrols throughout the night, monitoring of external doors and access to and from the building. Support for night staff will be available with an on call management service for guidance and advice.

To be considered for these roles, you will ideally have:

  • Experience (personal or professional) of working with one of the following client groups; mental health, younger people, older people, substance misuse, physical disabilities and/or learning disabilities, domestic violence, homelessness, young parents
  • The ability to engage with clients’ and ensure they are safe, secure and feel supported at all times when required
  • A well-organised approach, team ethos and good communication skills
  • Basic office IT skills
  • The ability to work on a rota basis over 7 days
  • A passion for providing support to others
